The solar system is an exiting place. It has many interesting objects to explore. The solar system is difficult for the kids to learn unless they are taught in an interactive manner. One of the interactive methods to teach the kids is through activities. The activities help the children to learn and assimilate information easier than the traditional teaching method. Some of the activities mentioned below will help the children to grasp information easily. One such activity is chart preparation where the students are asked to draw and color the planets. Some of the activities are sun paper plate craft, glitter galaxy craft and rocket craft.
The sun paper plate craft is a simple craft and it is made using a paper plate, yellow construction paper. Things needed to make this craft are a paper plate, yellow construction paper, scissors, glue, crayons and goodly eyes. The back side of the paper plate is painted yellow. A child’s hand is traced on the yellow construction paper about 7 times. The tracings are cut, glued and staples to the painted yellow paper plate. The finger plate resembles the sun’s rays. The kids are asked to color the sun and a suitable mouth, eyes and nose to the drawing. The next activity is the rocket craft which is done by using a paper towel tube and a construction paper.
Things needed to make the rocket craft are pencils, tape, glue, scissors, ruler, markers, construction paper and a paper towel. The students are asked to wrap a construction paper around the tube and glue the construction in place. The tube is cut into 4 slits at the base. Each slit should be about 21/2 inches long and each pair should be located opposite to each other. Two triangles measuring about 5 inches and 4 inches are cut in the construction paper and a slit is cut in the two triangles. The slit is fixed to the tube and the rocket is now ready to use.
